Sensory Friendly Jewelry? Why Designing For Everyone Means Including EVERYONE

Close up view of a model's hand wearing a solid white gold Hexagon Diamond Band

When AL created Automic Gold, they set out to make a company that was fully inclusive, for all genders, all sizes, and for those with sensory issues. As an autistic person, AL has always had trouble finding jewelry that fits their sensory needs, so they designed their own.

While sensory issues are different for everyone, AL personally prefers flat chain rings like Figaro or Mini Miami for everyday wear, so they have freedom of movement and it doesn’t rub up against neighboring fingers. When they do wear a band ring, it must be completely solid. Their engagement ring (our Hexagon Diamond Band), for example, has no hole behind the stone because they can feel the gap against their skin. The bezel-set stone also had to be low-set so that it wouldn’t catch on anything.

Automic Gold has always included comfort as a design factor; every aspect of a piece is thoroughly thought out. From the rounded posts of our stud earrings and threaders so they don’t poke, to our comfort fit bands that glide smoothly on and off, to making sure our chains have even weight distribution so they feel balanced.

Crafting a single piece of jewelry that covers all the bases and is comfortable for every person is impossible, so Automic Gold makes it point to have different styles readily available (and customizable!) so everyone has a piece they can wear every day.

Radically wearable fine jewelry, for everyone.
