We often get asked why we don’t offer coupons, discount codes, or do different sales like most companies, and there are a few reasons.
Why We Don’t Do Sales
We sell solid gold, platinum, silver, diamonds, and gemstones. These precious materials don’t spoil like produce, fade like clothing, or devalue like technology. In fact, the cost of these materials keeps rising. The price of gold was just $35 an ounce 100 years ago, $1500 5 years ago, and has now hit over $5000 an ounce. Our jewelry isn’t just fashion, it's an investment. You’re paying for pieces designed to last you a lifetime. And if you DO decide you’ve spent enough time with your piece, we can melt it down and create something new or pay you for the metal!
Since we exclusively use reclaimed metals, we can recycle pieces that don’t sell instead of reducing the prices to get rid of product. This ensures we don’t devalue the labor of our jewelers and other staff, and you, as a customer, can be confident in the value of Automic Gold jewelry.
Discounts Are Designed To Trick You
Yep, most discounts are fake. Companies will very rarely ever sell you something for less than its worth, and if they do, it’s because they don’t have a choice (i.e they made thousands of the same poorly made product and no one wanted it).
Whenever you see discounted pricing, it’s usually a marketing trick, sometimes preceded by falsely inflating the price slowly, months before the “sale” hits, and reducing it back down to where it started to pretend it's a bargain (we’re looking at you, “Black Friday Deals”)
We find this practice to be dishonest. It may feel like you're paying less for something, but you are always paying exactly what the company originally wanted you to pay.
So What Do We Do Instead?
We like to include free goodies with your items, like stickers, ring sizers, and a reusable ring or book box to show how much we appreciate your purchase. During special times (like Pride and the holiday season) we do things like offer free gifts that our team designs. We can also offer you store credit or cash for your old, unwanted, and/or broken fine jewelry so we can recycle it.
