Onyx is soft and porous, chemicals like perfume, lotions and makeup can damage the stones so they should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Remember to take off your onyx jewelry when working out, bathing, or doing hard labor. To clean your stones, use a dry or slightly damp soft cloth to get rid of dirt, do not use soap or detergent and blot dry right away.
