It is natural for the metal to show signs of scratches over time with wear, to help prevent this it's best to remove any jewelry when working out or doing any hard labor. I ordered the 19 in. it's a beautiful necklace, very tough/strong quality yet dainty looking. Shines bright! I love it honestly. I wish I could get a longer necklace though.
